Regular Season Round 18: Canberra - Melbourne 74-75

Eighth-ranked Canberra Capitals (4-17) used its home court advantage to challenge fifth ranked Boomers (12-9). The visitors from Melbourne managed to secure only one-point victory 75-74. However their fans expected easier game. Melbourne forced 26 Canberra turnovers. Strangely Canberra outrebounded Melbourne 35-23 including 25 on the defensive glass. American forward Naz Hillmon-Baker (188-2000, college: Michigan) scored 35 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds (on 13-of-17 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import point guard Jordin Canada (168-1995, college: UCLA) chipped in 22 points and 4 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was the former international swingman Alexandra Sharp (182-1997, college: Wake Forest) with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 12 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals and forward Alexandra Fowler (188-2001, college: Portland) scored 13 points and 9 rebounds. Four Canberra players scored in double figures. Melbourne moved-up to third place. Canberra lost eighth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 17 games lost.
