Regular Season Round 9: Bankstown B. - Penrith P. 104-72

Bruins' fans can finally celebrate the first win of their team after three consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat Panthers (0-4) 104-72. Bankstown B. made 17-of-22 charity shots (77.3 percent) during the game. Bankstown B. outrebounded Penrith 45-24 including a 31-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Bankstown B. players were unselfish on offense dishing 29 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Penrith's players. American guard Violet Morrow (176-1997, college: EWU, agency: IceBasket) stepped up and scored 34 points (!!!) for the winners and Samoan power forward Sienna Tutani (184-2006) chipped in 13 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Morrow is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Bruins players scored in double figures. Bruins' coach felt very confident using 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was naturalized New Zealand guard Tahlia Tupaea (175-1997) with 26 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) and forward Chloe Williams (190-2005, college: Indiana St.) scored 24 points. Despite that victory Bruins went down to ninth position due to points difference, which they share with 5 other teams. It was Penrith's fourth loss in a row. They still close the standings with four games lost. They share the position with SW Slammers and Woodville W.. Bankstown B. will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Penrith will play on the road against Illawarra H. (#4) in Wollongong and hopes to get finally their first victory.
