Very important is a home loss of second rankedLady Braves (7-2) against sixth ranked Mount Gambier Pioneers (7-1) on Sunday night. Host Lady Braves were defeated by Mount Gambier Pioneers in Bendigo 99-81 . It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Lady Braves. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Mt Gambier players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. The former international forward Zitina Aokuso (194-1998) had a double-double by scoring 18 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Samantha Fatkin chipped in 24 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Five Mount Gambier Pioneers players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was forward Megan McKay (190-1997, college: SMC) with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 14 rebounds and forward Cassidy McLean (178-1999) scored 20 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Mt Gambier keeps a position of league leader, which they share with 3 other teams.
