Regular Season Round 23: Melbourne T. - Ballarat M. 80-78

Date: May 18, 2024
Round in NBL One means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Melbourne where host Tigers (5-6) edged league's leader Ballarat Miners (7-3) 80-78 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Ballarat Miners. The best player for the winners was the former international guard Tom Wilson (195-1997, college: SMU) who scored 24 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Forward Jack Purchase (203-1995, college: Hawaii) chipped in 16 points and 9 rebounds. Four Tigers players scored in double figures. Tigers' coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Guard Luke Rosendale (194-2001) produced 20 points and 5 rebounds and guard Nicholas Stoddart (188-2000) added 19 points respectively for the guests. Melbourne T. moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Perry Lakes H. and NW Tasmania. Ballarat M. at the other side dropped to the third position with three games lost. They share it with BA CoE. They were replaced at the leadership position by Maitland M.. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
