Regular Season Round 26: Sydney C. - Canberra N. 75-81

Date: May 26, 2024
There was a minor upset in Alexandria where higher ranked Comets (5-7) were defeated by twelfth ranked Nationals (5-7) 81-75 on Sunday. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Canberra N. made 8 blocks. The best player for the winners was Lizzy Tonks who had a double-double by scoring 16 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists. Guard Callie Bourne (175, college: Idaho St.) chipped in 18 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. American guard Davida Dale (180-1997, college: URI) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and her fellow American import forward Janeen Camp (196, college: Troy) added 16 points and 16 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Comets' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Canberra N. moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Sydney C. and Geelong U. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
