Very expected game when 7th rankedWanneroo (6-6) was smashed by third ranked Cougars (12-3) in Joondalup 83-51 on Saturday. Cockburn C. forced 19 Joondalup W. turnovers and outrebounded them 48-32 including a 32-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Cockburn C. looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Joondalup W. 's players. It was an exceptional evening for swingman Alex Ciabattoni (180-1994, college: Newman) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists. Guard Stephanie Gorman (183-2000, college: San Diego) accounted for 17 points for the winning side. Four Cougars players scored in double figures. American forward Sirena Tuitele (185-2000, college: California) came up with 13 points and 6 rebounds and guard Josephine Odude added 12 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Joondalup W. in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Cougars . Cockburn C. moved-up to second place. Joondalup W. lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the seventh position with six games lost. They share it with Sutherland.
