Very expected game when 10th rankedMeteorettes (5-8) were smashed by fourth ranked Cyclones (9-3) in Rockhampton 95-65 on Saturday. Rockhampton C. dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Meteorettes 's 28. Rockhampton C. outrebounded Mackay 56-29 including a 22-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. Rockhampton C. looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The winners were led by American center Samantha Bowman (188, college: CWU) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 26 points, 22 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import guard Lauren Heard (175-1999, college: TCU) supported her with 20 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Four Cyclones players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 20 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists by swingman Taylor Mole (188, college: UCSB) did not help to save the game for Mackay . American guard Sam Haiby (175, college: Nebraska) added 13 points and 6 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Cyclones have a solid three-game winning streak. Rockhampton C. maintains fourth position with 9-3 record. Loser Meteorettes keeps the tenth place with eight games lost.
