There was a small surprise when fourth rankedRangers (13-6) crushed second-best Thunder (15-3) in Melbourne 83-56 on Saturday. Dandenong R. dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Thunder 's 30. Dandenong R. outrebounded Keilor T. 37-22 including 27 on the defensive glass. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Amber Smith (180-1998, college: Missouri) who led the winners and scored 17 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Her fellow American import power forward Ashten Prechtel (196-2001, college: Stanford) accounted for 18 points, 10 rebounds and 5 blocks for the winning side. Four Rangers players scored in double figures. New Zealand guard Tera Reed (183-1998, college: USC) came up with 14 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Isabelle Bourne (188-2000, college: Nebraska) added 12 points respectively for Keilor T. in the defeat. Thunder's coach gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. The victory was the third consecutive win for Rangers . Dandenong R. maintains fourth place with 13-6 record. Loser Thunder keeps the second position with three games lost.
