They held Cook Islands to just 18 points in the second half and rallied to the win. Maoake Tahirori (190-F-03) provided 10 points for Tahiti. Lewis Tuaru (04) replied with 15 points for Cook Islands. Australia - New Zealand 86-63 Australia finished the preliminary round undefeated. They beat New Zealand to take 3-0 record in Group A. Australia grabbed a 45:28 halftime lead. They went on a 26:18 run in the third term to clear off for good. Joshua Giddey (200-G-02) provided 26 points and 7 assists for the winners. Robert Coman (200-F-02) replied with 15 points and 10 rebounds for New Zealand. Group BNew Caledonia - Papua New Guinea 87-84New Caledonia nipped Papua New Guinea to climb at 2-1 record in Group B. The teams were tied at 43 heading into the long break. Papua New Guinea eked out a one-point lead at the final break. But New Caledonia used a 22:18 run in the fourth quarter to snatch the win. Yannick Fenuafanote (03) produced 22 points and 13 rebounds for the hosts. Harold Elavo (188-SF-04) replied with 23 points and 9 caroms for Papua New Guinea. Guam - Samoa 40-93 Samoa cruised past Guam to open win count at the tournament. Samoa posted a 43:22 halftime lead. They sank 50 points in the second half to ease to the victory. Egon Keil (193-F-02) produced 23 points and 11 rebounds, while Hinckley Scanlan (180-G-03) added 14 points in the win. Isaiah Malig (170-G-02) replied with 11 points for Guam.
