Australian Power forward Lachlan Olbrich (208-PF-2003) had a very impressive game in the last round for top-ranked Canterbury Rams, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 15.
The 21-year old player had a double-double of 30 points and 18 rebounds, while his team outclassed Jets (#11, 1-16) with 27-point margin 121-94. It allowed Rams to consolidate first place in the New Zealand NBL. Rams have a solid 16-2 record. In the team's last game Olbrich had a remarkable 73.3% from 2-point range. He has many years of experience at Rams, through which he has constantly improved. Former University of California Riverside star has very solid stats this year. Olbrich is in league's top in rebounds (3rd best: 12.2rpg) and averages impressive 58.6% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was young Callum McRae (216-C-1999) of Southland Sharks. McRae had a very good evening with a triple-double of 22 points, 21 rebounds and 11 assists. Of course he led Sharks to another comfortable win 98-83 over the higher-ranked Giants (#6, 8-9) being unquestionably team leader. This victory allowed Sharks to leave bottom place moving a little bit up to 10th position in the standings. 14 lost games are too many comparing to just two victories Sharks managed to get this year. McRae is one of the most experienced players at Sharks and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

Third on the list of top players last round was Australian swingman Daniel Grida (195-G/F-1998) of Nelson Giants (#6). Grida got into 30-points club by scoring 40 points in the last round. He went also for six rebounds . Despite Grida's great performance the Giants lost 83-98 to the lower-ranked Sharks (#10, 2-14). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. The chances of Giants ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 9 games, recording just eight victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Grida could help Giants to bring them higher in the standings. Grida has a great season in New Zealand. After 18 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 22.2ppg (4th best).
