Asberry's double-double lands him Player of the Week award

24-year old American guard Caleb Asberry (190-G-2000) put on an amazing game in the last round for Southland Sharks and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 17.
He got a double-double of 37 points and 10 assists, while his team crushed Jets (#11, 1-19) with 17-point margin 117-100. The game rather meaningless between the teams, which do not have any influence on top of the standings. Sharks maintains the 10th position in New Zealand league. Too late to salvage the team, which is currently ranked such low. They already lost 16 games and recorded just four victories. In the team's last game Asberry had a remarkable 73.3% from 2-point range. He has many years of experience at Sharks, through which he has constantly improved. Caleb Asberry averages this season 16.3ppg and 4.2apg.

Second best performed player last round was Callum McRae (216-C-1999). He is a center in his first season at Sharks. In the last game McRae recorded an impressive double-double of 28 points and 14 rebounds. Of course together with Asberry he helped Southland Sharks with another comfortable win 117-100 over slightly lower-ranked Jets (#11, 1-19) being unquestionably team leader. The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the title. Sharks keeps 10th position. 16 lost games are too many comparing to just four victories Sharks managed to get this year. McRae is one of the most experienced players at Sharks and similarly like Caleb Asberry has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

Third place about best performers goes to guard Isaiah Moore (185-PG-2000) of Hawkes Bay Hawks (#8). Moore got into 30-points club by scoring 38 points in the last round. He went also for ten assists. He was a key player of Hawks, leading his team to a 108-102 win against the higher-ranked Tuatara (#2, 16-4). The chances of Hawks ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 12 games, recording just eight victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Moore could help Hawks to bring them higher in the standings. Moore has a great season in New Zealand. After 19 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 25.7ppg (2nd best) and assists with 7.5apg (2nd best).
