Australian William Hickey (194-G-1999) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Auckland Tuatara and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 8.
The 25-year old guard recorded a triple-double of 31 points adding also 11 rebounds and 10 assists, while his team beat Hawks (#7, 4-3) 106-97. Tuatara is placed at 5th position in New Zealand NBL. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Tuatara will need more victories to improve their 5-3 record. In the team's last game Hickey had a remarkable 58.8% from 2-point range and got three three-pointers out of 7 attempts. He just recently signed at Tuatara, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Hickey has impressive league stats. He is league's best scorer averaging so far 27.8ppg. Hickey is in league's top in rebounds (2nd best: 10.3rpg), assists (2nd best: 9.5apg) and averages solid 70.0% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young Australian swingman Daniel Grida (195-G/F-1998) of Hawkes Bay Hawks. Grida impressed basketball fans with 33 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists. Bad luck as Hawks lost that game 97-106 to slightly higher-ranked Tuatara (#5, 5-3). This loss caused Hawks to drop to 7th position in the standings. His team lost some distance to top teams. But a 4-3 record is not bad and everything may still change. Grida is one of the most experienced players at Hawks and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

The third best performed player last round was Australian Owen Foxwell (188-G-2003) of Taranaki Airs (#6). Foxwell got into 30-points club by scoring 35 points in the last round. He went also for five rebounds and nine assists. Despite Foxwell's great performance the Airs lost 106-111 to slightly lower-ranked Jets (#8, 4-4). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. The last thing Airs needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 4 victories and 3 lost games. Foxwell has a great season in New Zealand. After only 6 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in assists with 9.5apg (best passer). He also has 3.2spg and and 3PT: 42.9%.
