Combs' 29 points give him Hoops Agents Player of the Week award

29-year old American power forward Jeremy Combs (201-F/C-1995) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Nelson Giants and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 23.
He had the game-high 29 points adding five rebounds and four assists for Giants in his team's victory, helping them to crush Tuatara (#7, 10-10) with 19-point margin 104-85. Giants maintains the 10th position in New Zealand league. Giants is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 8-11 record. In the team's last game Combs had a remarkable 83.3% from 2-point range. He just recently signed at Giants, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Texas Southern University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Combs is in league's top in points (2nd best: 24.3ppg) and averages solid 64.4% FGP.

Second best performed player last round was Luther Muhammad (191-G-1999) of Auckland Tuatara. He is American guard in his first season at Tuatara. In the last game Muhammad recorded an impressive 36 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. It was enough for Tuatara to edge slightly higher-ranked Jets (#5, 11-9) by 3 points 99-96. Tuatara's 7th position in the standings has not changed. His team lost some distance to top teams. But a 10-10 record is not bad and everything may still change. Muhammad is one of the most experienced players at Tuatara and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

Third place about best performers goes to forward Miles Gibson (198-F-1998) of Manawatu Jets (#5). Gibson got into 30-points club by scoring 37 points in the last round. Despite Gibson's great performance the Jets lost 96-99 to slightly lower-ranked Tuatara (#7, 10-10). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. The last thing Jets needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 11 victories and 9 lost games. Gibson has a great season in New Zealand. After 20 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 23.0ppg (4th best).
