Thomas number one in New Zealand Tauihi Basketball Aoteroa for round 3

American Forward Iimar'i Thomas (178-F-2000) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for N. Kahu, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 3.
The 23-year old player had a double-double of 30 points and 12 rebounds, while her team beat S. Hoiho (#1, 3-1) 67-59. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. N. Kahu maintains the 3rd position in New Zealand Tauihi Basketball Aoteroa. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost two games earlier this season. N. Kahu will need more victories to improve their 3-2 record. In the team's last game Thomas had a remarkable 53.8% from 2-point range. She has many years of experience at N. Kahu, through which she has constantly improved. Former University of California at Los Angeles star has very solid stats this year. Thomas is league's best scorer averaging so far 24.0ppg. Thomas is in league's top in rebounds (5th best: 9.6rpg) and averages impressive 63.6% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was another N. Kahu's star - young international forward Penina Davidson (190-F-1995). Davidson had a very good evening with a double-double of 25 points and 20 rebounds. Of course N. Kahu cruised to a 83-71 relatively comfortable win over Whai (1-2). The season is still at the very beginning and this victory may help a lot. Let's wait for the next round. Davidson is one of the most experienced players at N. Kahu and similarly like Iimar'i Thomas has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

Third on the list of top players last round was American forward Maya Dodson (191-F-1999) of league's second-best Tokomanawa Q.. Dodson scored 25 points and grabbed eight rebounds. She was a key player of Tokomanawa Q., leading her team to a 92-79 easy win against Mainland P. (#5, 0-4). Tokomanawa Q. needs these victories very badly if they think about taking over top position in the standings. Their record at this point is 3 victories and 1 lost game. Dodson has a great season in New Zealand. After only 4 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 18.8ppg (8th best).
