Madgen's 37-point game gives her Hoops Agents Player of the Week award

33-year old forward Tess Madgen (183-F-1990) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for league's best team N. Kahu and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 8.
She had the game-high 37 points adding nine rebounds and six assists for N. Kahu in her team's victory, helping them to beat Whai (#4, 6-6) 99-88. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. It allowed N. Kahu to consolidate first place in the New Zealand Tauihi Basketball Aoteroa. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. N. Kahu has a very solid 9-3 record, but they cannot be too comfortable about keeping top position. In the team's last game Madgen had a remarkable 63.6% from 2-point range and got four three-pointers out of 7 attempts. She turned to be N. Kahu's top player in her first season with the team. It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. S. Hoiho still maintains its place in the top 2 of the standings, even despite this loss. Her team's 7-5 record is not bad at all. Richards is a newcomer at S. Hoiho and quickly became one of team's most reliable players. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 16.8ppg (#8). She also registered 8.9 boards per game.

Third place about best performers goes to another N. Kahu's star - forward Iimar'i Thomas (178-F-2000). Thomas scored 28 points and grabbed ten rebounds. She was another key player of N. Kahu, helping her team with a 99-88 win against #4 ranked Whai. N. Kahu confirms their top position in the standings. Their record at this point is 9 victories and 3 lost games. Thomas has a great season in New Zealand. After 12 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 26.2ppg (best scorer) and rebounds with 8.5rpg (6th best).
