The most important game in the last round took place in between third ranked Pouakai (2-3) and fifth ranked Hoiho (2-3) on Sunday night. Pouakai was defeated by Hoiho in a tough game at home 69-78. S. Hoiho made 20-of-24 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. Americans were the main players on the court. Worth to mention a great performance of center Samantha Bowman (188, college: CWU) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 14 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Paige Bradley (178-1994, college: Denver) who added 17 points and 6 assists during the contest. At the losing side guard McKenzie Forbes (183-2000, college: USC) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. S. Hoiho moved-up to third place, which they share with Mainland P. S. Hoiho is looking forward to face bottom-ranked Whai (#5) in the next round. Mainland P. will play against the league's second-placed Tokomanawa Q. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Very significant was Kahu's (#1, 4-1) victory against 3rd ranked Pouakai (2-3) 76-50. The winners were led by American swingman IimarI Thomas (178-2000, college: UCLA) who scored that evening 24 points and 8 rebounds and Tahlia Tupaea supported her with 29 points. Even a double-double of 19 points and 14 rebounds by American forward Haliegh Reinoehl (188-1998, college: Akron) did not help to save the game for Mainland P.. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. N. Kahu maintains first position with 4-1 record. Mainland P. at the other side keeps the third place with three games lost. They share the position with S. Hoiho. N. Kahu will play against bottom-ranked Whai (#5) in the next round. Defending champion (3-1) moved-up to second place. Whai lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom position with four games lost. Tokomanawa Q. will meet Mainland P. (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Whai will play against S. Hoiho and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
