Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.

The most crucial game of the last round was another loss of Kahu (5-3) at the home court on Thursday night. Hosts were defeated by Queens (5-3) 76-67. It was a key game for the top position in the league. It was a great evening for American forward Jordan Horston (188-2001, college: Tennessee) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 13 rebounds. Australian forward Louise Brown (189-1995, college: Tennessee) helped adding 16 points and 7 rebounds. At the losing side the former international guard Tahlia Tupaea (175-1997) responded with 27 points (made all of her ten free throws !!!). Defending champion maintains first place with 5-3 record, which they share with N. Kahu. Tokomanawa Q. is looking forward to face Mainland P. (#3) in Christchurch in the next round, which may be the game of the day. N. Kahu will play against Whai and is hoping to win this game.
Very important is a home loss of first ranked Queens (5-3) against fifth ranked Hoiho (3-5) on Sunday night. Host Queens were defeated by Hoiho in a tough game at home 83-88. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Queens. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Paige Bradley (178-1994, college: Denver) who led the winners and scored 28 points, 5 rebounds, 8 assists and 9 steals. Ahlise Hurst accounted for 18 points. American forward Jordan Horston (188-2001, college: Tennessee) came up with 20 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists for Tokomanawa Q. in the defeat. S. Hoiho moved-up to fourth place. Defending champion Tokomanawa Q. still keeps top position with three games lost. They share it with N. Kahu. S. Hoiho will play against league's second-placed N. Kahu in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Tokomanawa Q. will play against Mainland P. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Mainland P. maintains third place with 5-4 record having just one point less than leader Tokomanawa Q. Whai at the other side dropped to the bottom position with six games lost. Mainland P. will meet league's leader Tokomanawa Q. in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Whai will play against the league's second-placed N. Kahu (#2) and hope to secure a win.

Very significant was Pouakai's (#3, 5-4) victory against 4th placed Whai (3-6) 98-83. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Whai. Mainland P. made 23-of-26 free shots (88.5 percent) during the game. Strangely Whai outrebounded Mainland P. 46-30 including a 26-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Mainland P. looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Mainland P. made 9 blocks. Canadian swingman Cassandra Brown (189-1992, college: Portland) fired 19 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Australian swingman Mikhaela Cann (177-1994) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 assists (made all of her seven free throws). American swingman Ashley Joens (183-2000, college: Iowa St.) produced a double-double by scoring 29 points and 13 rebounds and the other American import forward Mikayla Cowling (188-1996, college: California, agency: LBM Management) added 15 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Four Mainland P. and five Whai players scored in double figures. Mainland P. maintains third place with 5-4 record having just one point less than leader Tokomanawa Q.
