Best players of New Zealand Tauihi Basketball Aoteroa round 8

American Iimar'I Thomas (178-G/F-2000) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for league's leader Northern Kahu and that's her to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 8.
The 24-year old swingman had the game-high 32 points adding six rebounds and four assists for N. Kahu in her team's victory, helping them to crush S. Hoiho (#5, 3-6) with 21-point margin 91-70. It allowed Kahu to consolidate first place in the New Zealand Tauihi Basketball Aoteroa. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. N. Kahu has a very solid 6-4 record, but they cannot be too comfortable about keeping top position. In the team's last game Thomas had a remarkable 71.4% from 2-point range. She turned to be Kahu's top player in her first season with the team. University of California at Los Angeles graduate has very impressive stats this year. Thomas is in league's top in points (2nd best: 23.1ppg), rebounds (6th best: 8.5rpg) and averages solid 55.0% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young American guard McKenzie Forbes (183-G-2000) of second-ranked Mainland Pouakai. Forbes impressed basketball fans with 39 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists. Of course Pouakai cruised to a 97-89 relatively comfortable win over slightly lower-ranked Tokomanawa Q. (#3, 5-4). It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Mainland P. consolidated its place in top 2 of the standings. Her team's 6-4 record is not bad at all. Forbes is a newcomer at Mainland P. and it seems she did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 18.0ppg (#4). Her other stats are also decent: 5.7rpg and 4.5apg.

The third best performed player last round was former international guard McKenna Dale (183-G-1999) of Whai (#4). Dale scored 29 points. She was a key player of Whai, leading her team to a 80-72 win against #1 ranked N. Kahu. The chances of Whai ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 6 games, recording just four victories. With bigger assistance of her teammates, Dale could help Whai to bring them higher in the standings. Dale has a very solid season. In 10 games in New Zealand she scored 14.0ppg. She also has 5.6rpg and a FGP of 53.7%.
