Horston number one in New Zealand Tauihi Basketball Aoteroa for round 10 (by Hoops Agents)

American Forward Jordan Horston (188-F-2001) had a very impressive game in the last round for Tokomanawa Queens, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 10.
The 23-year old player was the main contributor (27 points, five rebounds and six assists) to her team's victory, helping them to crush N. Kahu (#2, 7-5) with 19-point margin 95-76. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Queens maintains the 4th position in New Zealand Tauihi Basketball Aoteroa. Tokomanawa Q. is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 6-6 record. In the team's last game Horston had a remarkable 53.8% from 2-point range. She turned to be Queens's top player in her first season with the team. Former University of Tennessee star has very solid stats this year. Horston is league's best scorer averaging so far 24.0ppg. Horston is in league's top in rebounds (8th best: 8.3rpg), assists (2nd best: 5.4apg) and averages impressive 1.4bpg.

The second best player in last round's games was another Tokomanawa Q.'s star - young international guard Stella Beck (183-G-1995). Beck had a very good evening with 23 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists. Of course together with Horston she helped Tokomanawa Queens with another comfortable win 95-76 over slightly higher-ranked N. Kahu (#2, 7-5) being unquestionably team leader. It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Queens consolidated its place in top 4 of the standings. Her team's 6-6 record is not bad at all. Beck is one of the most experienced players at Queens and similarly like Jordan Horston has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

Third on the list of top players last round was American swingman Ashley Joens (183-G/F-2000) of Whai (#3). Joens scored 23 points and grabbed 12 rebounds (!!!). She was a key player of Whai, leading her team to a 94-53 easy win against slightly lower-ranked S. Hoiho (#5, 3-9). Whai needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 6 victories and 6 lost games. Joens has a great season in New Zealand. After 12 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 23.6ppg (2nd best) and rebounds with 8.6rpg (6th best).
