POSTED BY: Mike Lacey
Following a successful couple of weeks in China, Head Coach Judd Flavell has made a call on who he’ll be taking through to the FIBA Asia Cup in Jeddah.
The Tall Blacks have had a great lead in to the FIBA Asia Cup, with notable wins against world number 12, Brazil, just the second victory over the Brazilians in our nation’s history, and world number 16, Montenegro. With a 4-1 record over the 5 games, which includes taking home the silverware in the FIBA Four Nations tournament, the Tall Blacks are well prepared and ready to get stuck into their FIBA Asia Cup campaign. In what is sure to have been a tough decision for Coach Flavell, Franklin Bulls forward Jordan Hunt (206-C-1997, college: S.Oregon) will join the 11 players already named as the squad’s 12th and final member of the roster. This means that the Tall Blacks confirmed roster for the 2025 FIBA Asia Cup in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia is as follows: C - Jack Andrew* (Taranaki Airs), 5 games G - Taylor Britt (Canterbury Rams & New Zealand Breakers), 38 games G - Flynn Cameron (Franklin Bulls & Adelaide 36ers), 33 games F - Max Darling (Canterbury Rams & New Zealand Breakers), 12 games F – Carlin Davison (Taranaki Airs & New Zealand Breakers), 9 games F – Ben Gold (Marquette University), 7 games F – Jordan Hunt (Franklin Bulls & Surrey 89ers), 17 games G – Mojave King* (Tauranga Whai), 5 games G/F – Taine Murray (Brisbane Bullets), 15 games G/F – Jordan Ngatai (Wellington Saints), 87 games G – Dontae Russo-Nance* (Manawatu Jets & Perth Wildcats), 2 games F/C – Tohi Smith-Milner (Canterbury Rams & Brisbane Bullets), 72 games Momentum is building for the Kiwi’s, who have won eight of their last eleven games.
