International Guard McKenna Dale (183-G-1999) had an amazing evening in the last round for league's leader Mainland Pouakai and that's her to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 1.
The 26-year old guard had a double-double of 22 points and 10 rebounds, while her team outclassed, the league's bottom-ranked team S. Hoiho (#4, 0-1) with 38-point margin 121-83. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. It allowed Pouakai to consolidate first place in the New Zealand Tauihi Basketball Aoteroa. But it's just the very beginning of the season and Mainland P. won both games without losing any. It's too early to say anything as the standings can be changed completely after next round. In the team's last game Dale had a remarkable 55.6% from 2-point range. She turned to be Pouakai's top player in her first season with the team. The University of Virginia graduate has very impressive stats this year. Dale is in league's top in points (7th best: 19.0ppg), rebounds (5th best: 8.0rpg), assists (8th best: 4.5apg) and averages solid 2.5bpg and 66.7% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young American forward Haliegh Reinoehl (188-F-1998) of Northern Kahu. Reinoehl impressed basketball fans with 31 points and 7 rebounds. Bad luck as Kahu lost that game 83-88 to Mainland P. (2-0). The season is still at the very beginning and this lost game may not be such crucial, of course if they start win the games. Let's wait for the next round. Reinoehl is a newcomer at N. Kahu and it seems she did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 31.0ppg (#1). She also registered 7.0 boards per game.

The third best performed player last round was another Mainland P.'s star - Australian Marena Whittle (180-G-1994, agency: LBM Management). Whittle got into 30-points club by scoring exactly 30 points in the last round. She went also for five rebounds and five assists. She was another key player of Mainland Pouakai, helping her team with a 121-83 easy win against #4 ranked S. Hoiho in a game of the week. Pouakai has a very good start of the season. But there were just 2 games played, so it's too early to judge them at this stage. Whittle also has a very good start of the season with very strong stats. Whittle has a great season in New Zealand. After only 2 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 25.0ppg (3rd best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Taylor Mikesell (180-G-1999) of Mainland P. - 23 points, 10 rebounds and 3 assists
5. Kristy Wallace (180-PG-1996) of Tokomanawa Q. - 16 points, 7 rebounds and 12 assists
6. Hannah Hank (188-F-2001) of Whai - 21 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists
7. Esra McGoldrick (188-F-1999) of Mainland P. - 20 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists

10. Tayla Dalton (175-G-2001) of Whai - 10 points and 3 rebounds

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
