Edwards' double-double lands her Hoops Agents Player of the Week award

30-year old Australian center Jessie Edwards (193-C-1995) put on an amazing game in the last round for Southern Hoiho and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 2.
She had a double-double of 22 points and 15 rebounds, while her team outclassed, the league's bottom-ranked team N. Kahu (#5, 0-2) with 27-point margin 96-69. Hoiho is placed at 4th position in New Zealand Tauihi Basketball Aoteroa. S. Hoiho is currently ranked second from the bottom. They need more victories to improve their 1-2 record. In the team's last game Edwards had a remarkable 69.2% from 2-point range. It was one of impressive evenings for her as usually she does not deliver so high stats. University of Minnesota graduate has very impressive stats this year. Edwards is in league's top in rebounds (3rd best: 9.3rpg) and averages solid 2.0bpg and 54.5% FGP.

Second best performed player last round was Hannah Hank (188-F-2001) of Whai. She is Australian forward in her first season at Whai. In the last game Hank recorded an impressive double-double of 23 points and 10 rebounds. Of course she led Whai to another comfortable win 89-74 over S. Hoiho (1-2) being unquestionably team leader. The season is still at the very beginning and this victory may help a lot. Let's wait for the next round. Hank is a newcomer at Whai and quickly became one of team's most reliable players. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 22.0ppg (#3). She also registered 8.5 boards per game.

Third place about best performers goes to another S. Hoiho's star - Taylah Simmons (185-SF-1997). Simmons showcased her all-around game by recording 20 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists in the last round. She was another key player of Southern Hoiho, helping her team with a 96-69 easy win against N. Kahu (#5, 0-2). The chances of Hoiho not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 2 games, recording just one victories. With bigger assistance of her teammates, Simmons could try to bring S. Hoiho's a little bit higher in the standings. Simmons has individually a great season in New Zealand.
