Round 3 most important game was a defeat of Queens (2-1). They were defeated by Hoiho (2-2) 80-73 on Saturday night. S. Hoiho looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. It was a great evening for American guard Paige Bradley (178-1994, college: Denver) who led her team to a victory scoring 20 points and 7 assists. helped adding 15 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). The best for the losing side was the former international forward Penina Davidson (190-1995, college: California) with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds. Queens will play next round against N. Kahu trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Hoiho will try to continue on its current victory against N. Kahu at home.
Very significant was Whai's (#2) 85-77 road victory against Mainland P.. It was an exceptional evening for Australian forward Hannah Hank (188-2001, college: Clemson) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 31 points and 10 rebounds. Laina Snyder accounted for 12 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals. Australian guard Marena Whittle (180-1994, college: NDSU, agency: LBM Management) came up with 16 points and 7 rebounds for Pouakai in the defeat. Pouakai's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Whai will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Mainland P. will play again against Whai and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game in supposed to be also quite interesting. Whai (3-1) played at the court of Kahu (0-3). Whai smashed Kahu 85-63 on Sunday. The best player for the winners was Laina Snyder who had a double-double by scoring 19 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was Lauren Mansfield who recorded a double-double by scoring 10 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Kahu's coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Whai will meet Mainland P. (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Kahu will play against S. Hoiho and hopes to get finally their first victory.
