Chun Lung (D1) signed 28-year old New Zealander international power forward Samuel Timmins (211cm-120kg-1997, college: Washington) for the upcoming 2025-26 season. He played last season with the Sharks in the New Zealand NBL league. In 13 games, he averaged 14.2ppg, 8.3rpg, 3.5apg, and 1.9bpg. He helped them reach the New Zealand League final. The previous season, he played with Try Hoop (B3 League) in the Japanese league.
Timmins has been a member of the New Zealand international program for some years. He has regularly played for the New Zealand senior team since 2017 and previously for the Under 19 National Team in 2015.
Timmins also represented New Zealand at the FIBA Asia Cup 2025 Qualifiers this year. Timmins' team won Bronze and he had 12 ppg.
He is a very experienced player. Timmins has played on four different continents (Europe, Asia, Australia, and of course North America). He has played professionally also in Australia (Kings and Breakers), Estonia (Tallinn Kalev), and Japan.
Among many awards, he was voted to the Australiabasket.com All-New Zealand NBL Award 2024 Honorable Mention in 2024.
Timmins graduated from the University of Washington in 2020, and it will be his sixth season as a pro player.
