31-year old Australian guard Marena Whittle (180-G-1994, agency: LBM Management) had a very impressive game in the last round for Mainland Pouakai and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 5.
She had a double-double of 22 points and 11 rebounds, while her team crushed Tokomanawa Q. (#2, 4-2) with 24-point margin 103-79. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Pouakai is placed at 3rd position in New Zealand Tauihi Basketball Aoteroa. Mainland P. is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 3-3 record. In the team's last game Whittle had a remarkable 71.4% from 2-point range and got three three-pointers out of 7 attempts. She turned to be Pouakai's top player in her first season with the team. North Dakota State University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Whittle is league's best scorer averaging so far 22.2ppg. Whittle is in league's top in rebounds (5th best: 7.8rpg) and averages solid 47.9% from behind 3-point line.

Second best performed player last round was Rebecca Pizzey (190-C-1999) of Southern Hoiho. She is international center in her first season at S. Hoiho. In the last game Pizzey recorded an impressive double-double of 18 points and 12 rebounds. Bad luck as Hoiho lost that game 76-88 to slightly higher-ranked Tokomanawa Q. (#2, 4-2). It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. S. Hoiho still maintains its place in the top 4 of the standings, even despite this loss. Her team's 3-3 record is not bad at all. Pizzey is a newcomer at S. Hoiho and quickly became one of team's most reliable players.

Third place about best performers goes to another Mainland P.'s star - forward Esra McGoldrick (188-F-1999). McGoldrick scored 20 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. She was another key player of Mainland Pouakai, helping her team with a 103-79 easy win against #2 ranked Tokomanawa Q.. Pouakai needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 3 victories and 3 lost games. McGoldrick has a very solid season. In 6 games in New Zealand she scored 10.8ppg. She also has 5.8rpg, 1.5bpg, a FGP of 51.9% and 3PT: 42.1%.
