Davidson's double-double lands her Player of the Week award

30-year old forward Penina Davidson (190-F-1995) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Tokomanawa Queens and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 8.
She had a double-double of 21 points and 21 rebounds, while her team crushed, the league's bottom-ranked team N. Kahu (#5, 0-9) with 25-point margin 84-59. Thanks to this victory Queens moved-up to the 4th position in New Zealand Tauihi Basketball Aoteroa. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Tokomanawa Q. will need more victories to improve their 6-4 record. In the team's last game Davidson had a remarkable 58.8% from 2-point range. She turned to be Queens's top player in her first season with the team. University of California graduate has very impressive stats this year. Davidson is in league's top in points (4th best: 16.6ppg) and averages solid 52.5% FGP.

Second best performed player last round was Jessie Edwards (193-C-1995) of Southern Hoiho. She is Australian center in her first season at S. Hoiho. In the last game Edwards recorded an impressive 20 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Of course Hoiho cruised to a 75-68 relatively comfortable win over Tokomanawa Q. (6-4). It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. S. Hoiho consolidated its place in top 3 of the standings. Her team's 6-4 record is not bad at all. Edwards is a newcomer at S. Hoiho and quickly became one of team's most reliable players.

Third place about best performers goes to another Tokomanawa Q.'s star - guard Stella Beck (183-G-1995). Beck scored 16 points and passed 4 assists. She was another key player of Tokomanawa Queens, helping her team with a 84-59 easy win against N. Kahu (#5, 0-9). Queens needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 6 victories and 4 lost games. Beck has a very solid season. In 10 games in New Zealand she scored 10.3ppg. She also has 5.2rpg and 2.3spg.
