New Zealand claimed their first-ever FIBA U17 Oceania Cup title in emphatic fashion, defeating Australia 82–62 to gain revenge in the championship decider. After a tightly contested first half that ended level at 39–38, New Zealand seized control with a dominant second half, outscoring Australia 43–24. A strong third quarter set the tone before the Tall Blacks pulled away decisively in the final period, holding Australia to just eight points, as New Zealand’s pressure and composure delivered a historic title triumph.
Hoani Ifopo-Togia (195-F-2008) stepped up with 22 points and Cole Hopoi (196-F-2008) added 21. Isaac Riddle (203-C-2008) and William Hamilton (193-F-2009) produced 12 points apiece in a loss.
