Sutherland Sharks (NBL One) bolstered their roster by adding 34-year-old New Zealander James Hunter, a 208cm center who previously played for Maitland Mustangs. Hunter, who played college basketball at S.Dakota, brings experience and skill to the team for the 2026 season after spending the last four years with Maitland Mustangs.
Hunter has spent the majority of his career in Australia playing for four other teams: Sydney City Comets, Miners, Raiders, and Breakers.
He won the Australian NBL1 East championship title in 2024.
Hunter graduated from the University of South Dakota in 2015 and it will be his twelfth (!!!) season in pro basketball. He played for other colleges such as Washington State University and Gillette College.
