This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of higher rankedTownsville Fire (3-2) to eighth ranked Canberra Capitals (2-4) 81-80 on Thursday evening. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international guard Jade Melbourne (178-2002, college: Arizona St.) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 7 assists and the former international guard Chantel Horvat (185-1998, college: UCLA) who added 13 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side American point guard Zia Cooke (175-2001, college: S.Carolina) responded with 22 points and swingman Courtney Woods (183-1997, college: NIU) scored 12 points and 9 rebounds. Four Townsville players scored in double figures. Canberra moved-up to sixth place. Townsville at the other side dropped to the third position with two games lost.
