No shocking result in a game when third rankedTownsville Fire (6-4) smashed at home bottom-ranked Canberra Capitals (2-9) 81-48 on Saturday. Townsville outrebounded Canberra 44-33 including a 35-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of swingman Courtney Woods (183-1997, college: NIU) who helped to win the game recording 17 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Alicia Froling (190-1996, college: SMU) who added 17 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Four Townsville Fire players scored in double figures. Townsville Fire's coach felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international guard Jade Melbourne (178-2002, college: Arizona St.) responded with 16 points and 5 assists and American center Charli Collier (196-1999, college: Texas) scored 8 points and 10 rebounds. Townsville maintains third position with 6-4 record having four points less than leader Bendigo. Canberra lost fifth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with nine games lost.
