Very predictable result when first rankedBendigo Spirit (13-2) defeated at home 7th ranked Sydney Flames (4-8) 80-62 on Sunday. Bendigo outrebounded Sydney 45-34 including 32 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American guard Veronica Burton (175-2000, college: Northwestern) who scored 18 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. The former international guard Samantha Whitcomb (178-1988, college: Washington) chipped in 18 points and 6 rebounds. Four Bendigo Spirit players scored in double figures. Bendigo Spirit's coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest.
