Date: January 12, 2025
Fourth-ranked United (5-9) gave a tough game to second ranked Perth Lynx (12-3) in Geelong. The visitors from Perth managed to secure only three-point victory 80-77. However their fans expected easier game. Perth made 22-of-25 charity shots (88.0 percent) during the game. It was an exceptional evening for Canadian forward Laeticia Amihere (191-2001, college: S.Carolina) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 13 rebounds. The former international forward Anneli Maley (185-1998, college: TCU) accounted for 11 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side. The former international swingman Alexandra Sharp (182-1997, college: Wake Forest) came up with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international guard Jazmin Shelley (175-2000, college: Nebraska) added 16 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Geelong U. in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Perth Lynx have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain second place with 12-3 record behind leader Bendigo. Newly promoted Geelong U. keeps the fourth position with nine games lost. Perth will play against bottom-ranked Southside (#8) in Dandenong in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Geelong U. will play on the road against the league's leader Bendigo (#1) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
