Regular Season Round 19: Perth - Melbourne 93-99

Date: January 22, 2025
Very important is a home loss of third ranked Wildcats (15-10) against fourth ranked United (16-10) on Wednesday night. Host Wildcats were defeated by United in a tough game in Perth 93-99. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Wildcats. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Melbourne outrebounded Perth 44-32 including 33 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for the former international forward Jack White (201-1997, college: Duke) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 16 rebounds. The former international guard Matthew Dellavedova (193-1990, college: SMC) helped adding 17 points and 7 assists. Four United players scored in double figures. At the losing side American forward Kristian Doolittle (201-1997, college: Oklahoma, agency: Pensack Sports) responded with 33 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import guard Bryce Cotton (182-1992, college: Providence, agency: Pensack Sports) scored 14 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Melbourne moved-up to second place, which they share with Sydney. Perth at the other side dropped to the fourth position with ten games lost. Melbourne will play against Brisbane (#8) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Perth will play against Cairns (#10) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
