No shocking result in a game when third rankedTownsville Fire (15-6) crushed on the road 5th ranked Sydney Flames (7-13) 83-50 on Wednesday. Townsville dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Sydney Flames 's 28. Townsville forced 21 Sydney turnovers and outrebounded them 44-25 including a 15-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Townsville looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by Sydney 's players. The winners were led by forward Alexandra Fowler (188-2001, college: Portland) who scored that evening 13 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Abbey Ellis (168, college: Purdue) supported her with 16 points. Townsville Fire's coach felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 14 points by American point guard Celeste Taylor (180-2001, college: Ohio St.) did not help to save the game for Sydney . Forward Carla Pitman (180-2004) added 10 points and 6 rebounds for lost side. Townsville Fire have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 15-6 record having just three points less than leader Bendigo. Loser Sydney Flames keeps the fifth place with 13 games lost.
