ButSharks were not able to use a home court advantage and lost to the opponent from Penrith 55-46 on Saturday night. Penrith held Sutherland to an opponent 25.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 23.7 percent accuracy of the winners. Penrith forced 23 Sutherland turnovers and outrebounded them 54-40 including a 26-12 advantage in offensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Penrith made 7 blocks. American forward Jordan Vasquez (183, college: CSUSM) nailed a double-double by scoring 14 points and 17 rebounds for the winning side and Serika Shillingsworth accounted for 15 points. Forward Madeleine Norris (188-1998) came up with 16 points and 6 rebounds and guard Aliza Fabbro (172-2001) added 11 points and 7 assists respectively for Sutherland in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest.
