Regular Season Round 1: Melbourne T. - Sandringham S. 100-69

Date: March 30, 2025
There was a small surprise when Tigers outplayed Sabres in Melbourne 100-69 on Sunday. Melbourne T. shot the lights out from three sinking 16 long-distance shots on high 55.2 percentage. The former international guard Tom Wilson (195-1997, college: SMU) nailed 30 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winning side and forward Jack Purchase (203-1995, college: Hawaii) accounted for 25 points and 8 rebounds. Forward Tom Koppens (201-2003) came up with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds and center Sammy Cartwright (-2003) added 13 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Sandringham S. in the defeat. Five Sandringham S. players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Tigers will meet Diamond V.E. in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Sabres will play against Hobart C. and hope to win that game.
