There was a minor upset in Geelong whereMiners were outplayed by United 98-72 on Saturday. Geelong U. dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Miners 's 34. Geelong U. forced 22 Ballarat M. turnovers and had a 34-23 advantage in offensive rebounds. Geelong U. looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by Ballarat M. 's players. The best player for the winners was American guard Demarcus Gatlin (193-1992, college: SHSU) who scored 31 points and 7 rebounds (on 13-of-15 shooting from the field). The other American import point guard Kaelen Malone (185-1995, college: ORU) chipped in 20 points and 9 assists. Worth to mention Malone played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped get the job in pro basketball. Four United players scored in double figures. Guard Luke Rosendale (194-2001) produced 14 points and 5 rebounds and guard Aiden Krause (193-2000, college: UC Irvine) added 9 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
