There was an upset when higher rankedDolphins (2-2) lost to tenth ranked Capitals (1-3) in Cairns 85-97 on Saturday. Brisbane C. made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 Cairns D. turnovers. The winners were led by Miela Sowah who scored that evening 35 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 5 assists and Ashley Arlen supported her with 17 points and 5 rebounds. Four Capitals players scored in double figures. Capitals' coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 31 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) by American forward Mia Loyd (181-1994, college: N.Dakota, agency: LBM Management) did not help to save the game for Cairns D. . The former international center Cayla George (193-1989) added 20 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the hosts. Capitals left bottom position moving up to ninth place. Loser Dolphins keeps the fifth position with two games lost. They share it with Townsville F. and Northside W..
