There was no surprise in Mt Gambier where 12th rankedUnited (4-6) was defeated by fourth ranked Pioneers (7-3) 94-88 on Sunday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Strangely Geelong U. outrebounded Mt.Gambier 49-36 including 20 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was forward Akech Aliir (204-2000) who had a double-double by scoring 26 points and 11 rebounds. American guard Joseph Palmer (193-2001, college: Colorado St., agency: Warren Sports International) chipped in a double-double by scoring 17 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. American guard Demarcus Gatlin (193-1992, college: SHSU) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points, 21 rebounds and 6 assists and forward Tristan Forsyth (208-1998, college: CBU) added 20 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Mt.Gambier moved-up to second place, which they share with Casey. Loser United keeps the twelfth position with six games lost.
