There was no surprise in Gawler where bottom-rankedLions (0-9) were edged by eighth ranked Tigers (3-6) 75-74 on Saturday. Southern T. outrebounded C.Districts L. 41-26 including a 22-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. Southern T. looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Croatian forward Iva Belosevic (185-1997, college: UTRGV) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 37 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds for the winners and American guard McKenzie Johnston (170-1996, college: Montana) chipped in 12 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists. The best for the losing side was forward Tiahna Sears (178-1999, college: N.Alabama) with 25 points and 6 rebounds and Papua New Guinea guard Shanique Lucas (172-2001, college: Union, TN) scored 17 points and 4 steals. Southern T. moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Hornsby S. and Norwood F. Loser Lions still closes the standings with nine games lost.
