Everything could happen in Ulverstone at the game between two tied teams. Both eighteenth rankedRingwood Hawks and 17th ranked NW Tasmania Thunder had identical 3-8 record. But NW Tasmania Thunder was not able to use a home court advantage and was outleveled by the opponent from Heathmont 107-87 on Saturday night. Ringwood outrebounded NW Tasmania 41-29 including a 32-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Naturalized Maltese forward Joshua Tomasi (208-2000, college: St.Cloud St.) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 16 rebounds for the winners and American guard Jonathan Lawton (188-1996, college: FSC) chipped in 24 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Lawton attended previously one of camps at Eurobasket Summer League on his way to pro basketball. The best for the losing side was guard Lachlan Barker (188-1996) with 19 points and American forward Tyler Harris (201-2001, college: Richmond) scored 14 points and 6 rebounds. Five Ringwood and four NW Tasmania players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ringwood (4-8) moved-up to seventeenth place. NW Tasmania lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the eighteenth position with nine games lost.
