Date: May 31, 2025
There was a surprise result when fifteenth ranked United (5-7) edged higher ranked Tigers (6-5) in Geelong 89-86 on Saturday. Geelong U. looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Forward Tristan Forsyth (208-1998, college: CBU) notched a double-double by scoring 26 points and 15 rebounds to lead the effort and point guard Liam Herbert (182-2001) supported him with 19 points. Even 27 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists by the former international center Harrison Froling (210-1998, college: Marquette) did not help to save the game for Melbourne T.. The former international guard Tom Wilson (195-1997, college: SMU) added 25 points, 5 rebounds and 11 assists for lost side. Four Melbourne T. players scored in double figures. Geelong U. moved-up to tenth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Tigers dropped to the eleventh position with five games lost. Geelong U. will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Melbourne T.'s supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Melbourne Keilor T..
