There was a surprise result when eighth rankedDolphins (3-3) crushed top-ranked Meteorettes (5-1) in Mackay 112-76 on Saturday. Cairns D. made 20-of-24 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Cairns D. made 8 blocks. American forward Mia Loyd (181-1994, college: N.Dakota, agency: LBM Management) notched a triple-double by scoring 36 points (!!!), 11 rebounds and 11 assists to lead the effort and the former international center Cayla George (193-1989) supported her with 17 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists. Four Dolphins players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 30 points and 13 rebounds by American forward Unique Thompson (190-1999, college: Auburn) did not help to save the game for Mackay . Forward Monique Bobongie (178-2006) added 14 points and 8 rebounds (made all of her seven free throws) for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Cairns D. moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Townsville F. and Northside W. Loser Meteorettes dropped to the second position with one game lost. They share it with Logan T..
