Another interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Brisbane:Brisbane Spartans (#2) and Capitals (#8). Capitals were defeated at home 84-91 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Capitals. SD Spartans dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Capitals 's 38 and made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. SD Spartans forced 19 Brisbane C. turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Guard Jessica McDowell-White (168-2000, college: USF) notched 17 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the effort and Taylah Simmons (185-1997, college: Southeastern) supported her with 20 points and 6 rebounds. Four Brisbane Spartans players scored in double figures. Even 49 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds (made all of her thirteen free throws !!!) by Miela Sowah did not help to save the game for Brisbane C. . Ashley Arlen added 13 points and 5 rebounds for lost side. Capitals' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Brisbane Spartans (5-0) have an impressive five-game winning streak.
