We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 9th rankedMavericks (2-8) were smashed by tenth ranked Lions (1-9) in Mt. Barker 90-63 on Saturday. C.Districts L. made 17-of-20 free shots (85.0 percent) during the game. Forward Tiahna Sears (178-1999, college: N.Alabama) notched 22 points and 9 rebounds (made all of her ten free throws !!!) to lead the effort and Papua New Guinea guard Shanique Lucas (172-2001, college: Union, TN) supported her with 15 points and 7 rebounds. Even a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds by American center Aspen Williston (193, college: UCO) did not help to save the game for Eastern M. . Daisy Hocking added 10 points and 7 rebounds for lost side. Five C.Districts L. and four Eastern M. players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Lions maintains tenth position with 1-9 record. It was Eastern M. 's fourth loss in a row. They keep the ninth place with eight games lost.
