Regular Season Round 9: Blackburn - Melbourne Uni 82-90

There was no surprise when 12th rankedVikings (1-10) were defeated at home by seventh ranked Melbourne Uni (6-6) 90-82 on Sunday. Melbourne Uni outrebounded Blackburn 44-29 including a 16-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was British power forward Oliver Stanley (196-1994) who had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 20 rebounds. American guard Jamir Moultrie (185-1997, college: Canisius) chipped in 27 points. Four Melbourne Uni players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard James Legan (190-1987, college: ECU) who recorded 27 points and 4 assists and Elijah Davy added 24 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Melbourne Uni moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Shepparton. Blackburn lost their eighth game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with ten games lost. Melbourne Uni will meet Bellarine (#9) on the road in the next round. Blackburn will play against Pakenham and hope to win that game.
