Rather predictable result in Upwey where third ranked Suns (11-3) defeated 7th ranked Hume City Broncos (4-10) 76-58 on Saturday. Sherbrooke S. held Hume City B. to an opponent 23.1 percent shooting from the field compared to 40.3 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Hume City B. 55-40 including a 40-28 advantage in defensive rebounds. Sherbrooke S. looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. The best player for the winners was American guard Oliana Squires (175-1998, college: Montana St.) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists. Her fellow American import guard Zoe Zwerling (173-1996, college: Northeastern, agency: Crossover Management) chipped in 21 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. Suns' coach Chad Burton allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American forward Madeline Holland (180, college: SMC) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds and Paige Tawaf added 12 points respectively for the guests. Suns have a solid series of four victories in a row. Sherbrooke S. maintains third place with 11-3 record having just three points less than leader Bellarine. Hume City B. lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with ten games lost. Sherbrooke S. will meet at home league's second-placed Pakenham W. in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Hume City B. will play against Wyndham D. (#10) and hope to secure a win.
