There was no surprise when 11th rankedSouth West Metro Pirates (2-6) lost to eighth ranked Rollers (4-4) in Gold Coast 93-109 on Saturday. Gold Coast R. shot 62.1 percent from the field. They shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 63.6 percentage. Gold Coast R. looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Point guard Preston Le Gassick (182-2003, college: Menlo) nailed 32 points and 9 assists for the winning side and American swingman Charles Smith IV (196-2000, college: PVAMU, agency: Haylett Sports) accounted for 21 points and 6 rebounds. Smith IV is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Rollers players scored in double figures. Center Ben Volkman (206-1997, college: Maryville, MO) came up with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 10 rebounds (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field) and Canadian-Serbian point guard Dragan Stajic (188-2000, college: Ottawa) added 9 points and 15 assists respectively for SW Metro P. in the defeat. South West Metro Pirates' coach rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Gold Coast R. moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Ipswich F. and Logan T. Loser South West Metro Pirates keeps the eleventh position with six games lost.
