There was a minor upset in Runcorn where 7th rankedFlames (5-6) were rolled over by ninth ranked Pirates (3-7) 89-68 on Friday. SW Metro P. dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Flames 's 28. SW Metro P. looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The best player for the winners was American swingman Beyonce Bea (185, college: WSU) who had a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 14 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Swingman Stephanie Bairstow (188-1994, college: Utah St.) chipped in 17 points and 8 rebounds. New Zealand guard Tayla Dalton (175-2001, college: Gonzaga) produced 23 points and 6 rebounds and American center Samantha Bowman (188, college: CWU) added 8 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Pirates have a solid three-game winning streak. SW Metro P. maintains ninth position with 3-7 record, which they share with Ipswich F. Loser Flames keeps the seventh place with six games lost.
