There was an upset in Mackay where higher rankedMeteors (6-4) were defeated by seventh ranked Force (5-5) 98-86 on Friday. Ipswich F. made 27-of-32 free shots (84.4 percent) during the game, while Mackay only scored eleven points from the stripe. The best player for the winners was American swingman Lamar Patterson (196-1991, college: Pittsburgh) who had a double-double by scoring 45 points (!!!), 13 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals (was perfect 14-for-14 from the free throw line !!!). Forward Kane Bishop (192-1997) chipped in 13 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Naturalized South Sudanese forward Akol Mawein (206, college: Sacramento St.) produced a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and naturalized South Sudanese power forward Emmanuel Malou (206-1993, college: Iowa St.) added 16 points and 11 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Four Mackay players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Ipswich F. maintains seventh position with 5-5 record. Loser Meteors keeps the third place with four games lost.
